We're still working on hand signals - he's much better with verbal cues so I've usually been giving him both.
Training Plan:
Training session daily schedule: Short training sessions during the week in the morning before breakfast & after work before dinner. On the weekends will be a bit more loose, but still before breakfast and in the afternoon.
“Feed in place” marker: “Yes!”
“Throw a treat” marker: “Get it”
Release word: “Ok!”
In general, what are signs from your dog that they are overly stressed?: He jumps and wines
What are signs from your dog during training that your dog is confused, frustrated, worried, etc.? (It’s okay if you’re not sure!): He has his go-to of “twirl” when he isn’t sure what I want him to do. He wines when he’s worried.
Great job!
He doesn't need to understand a hand signal by itself for the sport of Rally specifically, so this still works. Having a hand signal is helpful for when we teach sit at the side, lying down from motion, etc. It's just extra help for the dog!
