I have a sneaking suspicion you're about to tell me after reading this that Luna actually doesn't know these words :) or something tricky.
"maybe I'll get pets or a treat " is implied after most of these behaviors
Sit - put my butt on the ground, maybe I'll get pets or a treat
Down - lay my whole body down
Belly - lay my body down, flip to one side and give human my belly
Bang - lay my body down, flip to one side, give belly faster than belly command
Stay - don't move my body until human releases me
Wait - don't move my body until human goes ahead of me
Stand - on all 4's stationary
Come - get to my human
Heel - get to my human's left side, either stationary or walking
Front - get in front of my human and face her
Spin - move my body in a circle going counter clockwise
Twist - move my body in a circle going clockwise
Sit Pretty - sit plum on my rump and lift my front legs in the air, sometimes human takes my left paw to help me
Free - GO WILD WITH MY BODY! release word to eat, run, play or go lie down somewhere else
Yes - my human will treat me where I am
Get it - my human will toss me a treat to pick up
Catch it - my human will toss me a treat into my mouth
Pony up - get my front paws up on an elevated object
Place - go to the thing my human is pointing at, stay there in a sit or stay
Target - put my front paws on the thing my human is pointing at
Touch - use my nose to graze human hand or object in her hand
Point - use my paw to graze what my human is touching
Paw - lift my paw to put in human's
Other Paw - lift the paw that is on the ground once the first side returns to the ground
Eat/Dinner/Hungry - lie down calmly while mom makes dinner, then wait until she "frees" me to eat it
Go outside/go potty - we're going outside to pee and poop!
Walk - I am doing circles with my body until mom puts my gear on for a walk
Let's go - check in with my mom and move in the direction her body goes
Look - look at my mom's eyes (if she's lucky)
Luna - that's me, this is similar to look
Jump - use my front legs then back legs to get over the object in front of me
Speak - make bork sounds with my mouth
Whisper - like speak but softer, less vocal
Come up - get on whatever my mom is patting with her hand, usually the couch, to lie down
Back - use my hind legs first then my front legs to move backwards, slowly and in controlled motion
Forward - use my front legs to take small, controlled steps towards mom
Wrap - walk a circle around mom's body
I might be missing some... they keep popping into my head everytime I think I'm done.
Hehe, no, the exercise is not necessarily a trick! It's just a useful thing to reflect on.
A lot of verbal cues are only understood by our dogs in conjunction with other signals and context clues. That's not necessarily a bad thing. It's just something we need to be aware of.
