Teamwork on the Town
A new kind of dog training class!
Teamwork on the Town is our flagship group class. If you and your dog mostly encounter distractions outdoors, why not focus your training on outdoors?
For beginners: This class is often the perfect opportunity to introduce a dog to a group class setting because of the opportunity to create distance and take breaks.
For advanced students: For advanced students, we chase the distraction naturally provided by being outdoors in Chicago! We also practice advanced training drills such as ignoring friendly strangers, keeping calm around excited dogs, and more.

About Teamwork on the Town
Hello canine urban explorers! Do you find outings with your dog to be a bit intimidating? Or do you in fact already know your dog loves their city adventures? Either way, this class is perfect for you. Join a group of fellow dedicated k9 training teams on a new quest each week as we voyage to new neighborhoods together and practice loose leash walking, focusing around distractions, polite greetings, relaxing in public spaces, and bonus tricks. Strengthen you and your dog's bond, meet new friends as crazy about their pups as you are, and get your daily steps in. What’s not to love?
This class is open only to current students of Venus and Mars K9 as well as to students of our friends Tailored Teaching Canine, Windy City K9, adogtrainerlife, Gotham City Dawg Sports, and others.

FAQ
What exercises or training skills do you practice during class?
Teamwork on the Town has a fun, dynamic curriculum. We use the environment to practice different skills such as ignoring distractions in nearby dog parks, doing puppy-parkour on benches and fire hydrants, etc. We practice loose leash walking/heeling, sit and down with distractions, stay and long settles, coming when called, leave it, eye contact/focus, tricks, and more. We do drills such as ignoring people talking to your dog, politely saying hi, and other impulse-control based distraction exercises.
How do I know if my dog is ready for Teamwork on the Town?
We require students be existing clients or have previous training experience before joining. This isn't only to ensure that our classes are not a disruption to the public but also to ensure that no student is left feeling lost or confused during class because they are unfamiliar with the training techniques.
Can my dog socialize with other dogs in this class?
Dogs in this class practice "neutrality" around one another, meaning they exist calmly around one another without directly interacting or "saying hi." You are welcome to exchange contact information with students to arrange a play date outside of group class if your dog meets the love of their life during training.
Do dogs go off leash during class?
No. This class is open to dogs who are "dog selective" and do not want to play. In order to keep everyone safe (and follow the law, since we're outdoors!) all dogs are kept on leash at all times.
Testimonials
Sean & Jio Jio
"Cori is a truly excellent dog trainer that we've been fortunate enough to bring our little creature to experience. They lead wonderful group classes in parks all over the city in Teamwork on the Town, plus a variety of other focuses like dog sports and fitness down at their Bridgeport site. Cori has also helped us in private lessons learning some clever ways to train tricks and behavioral improvements.
I cannot recommend them highly enough if you're looking to learn how to better understand your pup and help them to understand you, plus having lots of fun along the way!"
Sara & Larkin
"Cori is one of my dog's favorite people. We have done several classes with them, as well as a handful of private lessons. The class content has been well thought out with appropriate homework, and the private lessons have given me information specific to my dog (a 9 month old, extremely high energy mutt) that I wouldn't have ever come to on my own. Cori's style is really effective at teaching me how to manage and better communicate with my dog, which is really the point all along. I highly recommend them as a trainer if you're in the Chicago area!
Update: June 2026 - we are still working with Cori and I am so pleased to report that my dog is much more enjoyable to live with now being 2.5 years old, and much more fun to do stuff with, including Cori's group classes. The group classes are so fun - active, with progression of skills over time, and the human attendees are also great. We always have a good time and work her body and brain."

"Cori is such a creative instructor. She is always prepared for our classes with some unique and valuable exercises. My dogs are challenged but just to the right degree. The three of us always look forward to Monday’s classes… Doggie Dance and then heeling class. I have learned a bunch from her."
Kate & Meadow
"Cori has completely changed my relationship with my dog for the better! My almost 6 year old pit bull and I have been throughly enjoying their group classes for a few years now. My dog has worked through her fear and anxiety to become a much more confident and trusting dog. Not only that, but we've learned all sorts of fun tricks, sporting activities, and general agility movements to bring in to our every day routine :)
My dog can now relax in a group setting with other dogs very close by, which was impossible before Cori's classes. As a bonus to all the positives Cori's classes have provided for my dog, I've also found their classes to be an amazing outlet for support as a dog owner and appreciate the encouragement, patience, and knowledge they provide for me as well.
Could not recommend Cori enough!"
Mary & Obi
"I have learned so much from Cori since we started working together to help my excitable dog, Obi. Cori has taught me how to better manage many types of distractions on walks, how to incorporate fun games to get Obi's endless energy out, and so much more. One of my favorite things about Cori is that they are great at pointing out when my instruction to Obi can be improved but they also call out when things are going really well! They are a wealth of knowledge and deliver instruction in a straight forward and easy to understand manner. They are kind, approachable and have made training something that Obi and I always look forward to attending. Cori truly cares about their clients and I can't recommend them enough!"
