Vlog: We Moved Again, Cupid's Life & Injuries, and More

I have moved again, still in the city and this time to a bigger, nicer apartment! Hurray! So, it was time for some self-reflection in the form of a good ole VLOG.

It occurred to me that Cupid is old enough now that some of my followers do not know about his journey to being washed from IGP, so I started with a part 1 that outlines the journey of me getting Mars and Cupid, my experience raising a KNPV dog as a young trainer without a mentor, his injuries, the process of washing him, and how we live our lives post-bitework.

Part 1:

And now for our general life update, including my training plan for Cupid and fence fighting in our new neighborhood.

  • Considerations for getting dog number 3.

  • Balancing my non-dog life and my dog life.

  • The event of moving houses.

  • Moving definitively past New Mom syndrome?

  • General training in the new house.

  • Fence fighting reactivity training plan:

Prereq. Being prepared (walking 1 dog at a time).

  1. Only expose Cupid to fence fighting when his needs have been met.

  2. Training around fence fighting:

  3. At medium/hard intensity: Toy play.

  4. At medium/easy intensity: Find it/sniffing food reward.

  5. At easy/medium intensity: Obedience (heel, stays etc.)

  6. At easy intensity: Just exist.

  7. Correction for reactivity that happens during surprise/oopsie scenarios, which is inevitable.
